The Lion’s Share of Ourselves.
Cyberwit, India.
Forthcoming, 2026.
Self-reflection sometimes culls unwanted discoveries. Nonetheless, it’s imperative, now and then, to investigate the assemblages of parts that constitute us. Without examination, these bits and bobs are liable to “rust,” or worse. So, inventory’s key.
Consequently, the poems in The Lion’s Share of Ourselves might explore commonplace goings-on such as discarded goods and people, the difficulties inherent in whistle blowing, and alternative therapies for affective disorders, but they’re vital. Poetry is not just unicorns and rainbows—equally, it ought to be employed to deconstruct human experiences.
That is, it’s only when the legislation, assessment, and execution of our acts are divided among us, can our accountability be considered “balanced.” Neither linguistic robdozers nor cabulances will ever suffice to illuminate the sundry gradations of our behaviors. Rather, we must look within.
